The 5G technological revolution at the 84th TIF

The first exhibition to introduce and utilize the next generation 5G network, delivering the message of innovation and technological excellence.

Mobile networks have changed the way we communicate, we work, we entertain, we move, even the way we do our financial transactions. The next generation of mobile telephony and the 5G network will bring even more changes!

Those who want to get the first taste of the impending technological "revolution" simply have to visit the 84th TIF, where the 5G network will be introduced for the first time with the assistance of Wind and Huawei, sending "a message of innovation and technological excellence", as Tasos Tzikas, the President of Helexpo said. After all, TIF emphasises on digital technologies, which is also reflected in the presence of Greek startups as part of of Digital Greece section.

The 5G Networks will bring many and significant changes. As Nassos Zarkalis, Chairman and CEO of Wind Hellas points out, "it is an opportunity for Greek companies, especially those pursuing innovation, to get to know 5G and the opportunities for new applications, services and products it offers".

But what makes 5G different from 4G? Most people would say that the much higher speed provides better Internet browsing experience and potentially new applications. Meanwhile, 5G allows simultaneous operation of dozens - if not hundreds of thousands - of interconnected devices in the same area. Moreover latency is incredibly low, which is crucial for motor vehicles and applications such as telemedicine.

Although 5G is characterized as important technological 'revolution', the existing path to its implementation is expected to be completed in Greece at best by the end of 2020. However, public and business training has already begun, as demonstrated by pilot applications of the specific network in the city of Kalamata and the 84th TIF.
