85th TIF - Honored Country

Greece – Germany: Two Countries, One Institution

The incorporation of economic, commercial, investing and cultural relations between the selected honored country and Greece is an important characteristic of TIF.

In this years’ event, invited honoured country is Germany-the most important market in Europe, yet also one of the top economies in the world.

Germany takes the baton from last year’s honoured country India, to stress out good practices in business and way of life and to emphasize energy and the environment, presenting its dynamism in some sectors, such as:

  • green development
  • vocational training
  • smart cities
  • mobility
  • startups
  • health
  • nutrition

The Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy has commissioned the co-ordination of the presentation of German businesses at the Cologne Exhibition Organization (Koelnmesse GmbH) in an exhibition area of 6.000 sq.m. (TIF -Pavilion 13). The whole preparation will be also supported by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and the German- Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Factors also contributing to the success of Germany’s participation as the Honoured Country, are the many German and bilateral agencies that have steadily maintained a presence in Greece, such as the German Schools of Thessaloniki and Athens, Goethe Institute, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Deutsche Welle, and the Greek-German Assembly.
