The 90th Thessaloniki International Fair Opens the Gates to the Future: A Journey into Technology, Research and Innovation
At the heart of this year’s exhibition experience, the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) has placed technology, research and innovation, transforming the Thessaloniki International Exhibition & Conference Center into a living laboratory of the future. After all, throughout its 100-year history, TIF has consistently served as a platform for showcasing new technological developments and innovative achievements.
The technological pulse of this year’s event is beating strongly at the Ministry of National Defence’s presence in Pavilion 6, where an extensive showcase of new technologies is being presented, alongside interactive spaces featuring Virtual Reality headsets. For the first time, visitors can see up close the F-35 fighter jet flight simulator, as well as naval navigation and combat simulators. The central area features an impressive Technology Exhibition showcasing cutting-edge anti-drone systems and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), some of which are developed and manufactured by the Armed Forces themselves. A special place is also reserved for the presentation of the “Achilles’ Shield.”
At the same time, Pavilion 17 of the 90th TIF serves as a unified thematic hub for education, technology, research and innovation. A central pillar is AKADEMIA, bringing together universities, educational institutions and research organizations from Greece and abroad.
In this space, academic knowledge meets entrepreneurship, with startups, research centers, artificial intelligence systems and smart applications on display. The Regions of Attica, Western Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Greece and the Peloponnese are also presenting their own initiatives in the field of digital transformation. The pavilion’s dynamic program is completed by the Open Stage, which hosts a wide range of presentations and thematic discussions.
Another focal point for advanced technology is Pavilion 13, home to this year’s Honored Country, Japan, where visitors have the opportunity to explore Japanese technological achievements in key fields such as technology, innovation, automotive, healthcare and energy. Visitors can discover pioneering applications for sustainable mobility, technologies supporting digital transformation, advanced air-conditioning solutions and state-of-the-art medical diagnostic systems.
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is showcasing the digital transformation of the Greek state in one of the most innovative ways. At the center of its participation this year is “Eugenia,” the first digital avatar of the Greek public
sector. Designed based on a real person, Eugenia communicates with citizens using natural, everyday language while providing information on specific topics. Eugenia represents a decisive first step towards the deployment of more advanced Artificial Intelligence applications for the benefit of citizens.
NOESIS is also adding its own distinctive touch to the 90th TIF, participating in Pavilion 7 of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Development. The Science Center and Technology Museum invites the public to experience the legacy of technological evolution while engaging with the major questions of tomorrow.
At the heart of its participation is the presentation of its new exhibition, “Technology: The Tools That Changed the World,” which offers a panoramic 360-degree virtual tour.
Visitors can see up close the historic IBM 1620, the first computer to operate in Northern Greece in the late 1960s, as well as the iconic BMW Isetta, the tiny vehicle of the 1950s that serves as a reminder of how innovation can emerge from bold ideas.
After 9:30 p.m. today, the Music Events Live stage will welcome Panos Mouzourakis and Kostis Maraveyas for an artistic encounter promising music, humor, theatricality and unexpected moments of spontaneity. Yesterday, Stavento, featuring a live performance by Daphne Lawrence, and Marseaux impressed their numerous fans. Admission to the concerts is free with a TIF admission ticket.
