TIF-HELEXPO Advisory Committee Briefed on Redevelopment Project and 90th TIF

The management of TIF-HELEXPO briefed the company’s Advisory Committee on all the latest developments regarding the redevelopment project, as well as the organization of the upcoming 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).

The Chairman of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr. Christos Tsentemeidis, presenting the redevelopment plan, described the occasion as a historic moment, noting that what began as a vision for a new TIF has now reached the stage of implementation. Mr. Tsentemeidis referred to the international tender published recently, with a deadline of 21 September, and expressed his assessment that there would be significant interest from companies, given the project’s landmark character. He also presented the key elements of the redevelopment, which include the construction of two exhibition buildings, the renovation of the “I. Vellidis” Conference Centre, the development of a 120-hectare “green” area featuring the characteristics of a Metropolitan Park, as well as the creation of 1,064 underground parking spaces. He also stressed that the project would be implemented in three stages, so as not to disrupt the operation of TIF-HELEXPO.

For his part, the CEO of TIF-HELEXPO, Mr. Andreas Mavrommatis, presented the main pillars of the 90th TIF (5–13 September), which has particular momentum for three reasons: its anniversary character, as this year marks 100 years since the first edition was held in 1926; the Honored Country, Japan; and the fair’s enhanced commercial dimension. Mr. Mavrommatis provided a detailed overview of Japan’s participation and the rich programme of accompanying events, the 11 themed sections featured at the 90th TIF, with new additions, as well as the strong participation of the Chambers of Commerce.

The Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Mr. Ioannis Masoutis, referring to the redevelopment plan, noted that it serves the needs of citizens, the business community and the operation of TIF-HELEXPO. Speaking on behalf of the Chambers and other productive-sector organizations, he stressed that they stand by the company and are available to provide assistance wherever needed. The Deputy Chairwoman of the Advisory Committee, Ms. Loukia Saranti, stressed the need for the tendering process and the project itself to be completed as quickly as possible, noting that SEVBE is at the disposal of TIF-HELEXPO to provide any assistance that could contribute to the progress of the redevelopment project.

It is noted that the Advisory Committee comprises the heads of Thessaloniki’s and Northern Greece’s leading productive-sector and business organizations.
