The Thessaloniki International Fair takes on a special anniversary character this year, marking 100 years since its first edition in 1926. A century of continuous presence, development, and contribution to the country’s economy, business, social, and cultural life provides the starting point for a special exhibition that goes beyond a historical retrospective and instead turns its gaze towards the future.
TIF-HELEXPO, in co-organization with MOMus – Museum of Contemporary Art, present a specially designed exhibition featuring a contemporary museological and exhibition-design approach. The exhibition highlights the Thessaloniki International Fair’s enduring relationship with innovation, technological progress, and the major changes that have shaped each era.
The exhibition presents, through a timeline, the journey of an institution that has consistently served as a meeting point for ideas, people, businesses, and technological developments. From the first major innovations showcased in the TIF pavilions to the contemporary challenges of the digital age and sustainable development, visitors follow the journey of an organization that does not simply keep pace with developments but actively contributes to shaping them.
Through a wealth of archival material, rare photographs, historical documents, audiovisual presentations, and contemporary storytelling techniques, visitors have the opportunity to discover the most significant moments of a century-long journey, the pioneering achievements that marked the history of TIF, as well as the vision shaping its future.
The historical journey culminates in the presentation of the New TIF, the major redevelopment project for the exhibition center, which marks the beginning of the institution’s second century. At the crossroads of this transformative journey, a historic site is being reshaped without severing its ties with its memory, so that it can continue to welcome what has yet to come.
The exhibition is hosted at MOMus – Museum of Contemporary Art, on the premises of TIF, as a major anniversary event of this year’s edition, creatively connecting the past with the present and the future.
Admission to the exhibition is free for all visitors with a ticket to the 90th TIF.
