The panel participants—key contributors to the reform of the institutional framework and its forthcoming implementation—will discuss the opportunities and challenges ahead, as well as the areas where Greece and other Member States must demonstrate diligence and careful planning. NEPHELE: A lightweight software stack and synergetic meta-orchestration framework for the next generation compute continuum
17:00
18:00
Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge Computing are evolving at a rapid pace in order to support the various needs of diverse operational environments, such as smart cities, industrial networks, and automotive. In this respect, there is an increasing need for the integration of IoT functions with edge and cloud computing applications. To this end, I will talk about some latest trends for the virtualization of IoT device functions at the edge of the network infrastructure with the aim of supporting openness and interoperability in a device-independent manner. I will also present the NEPHELE approach to the deployment and orchestration of hyper-distributed applications across the entire span of the computing infrastructure, also known as the compute continuum. Job quality encompasses concepts such as fair remuneration, safety, work-life balance, and career development opportunities. Proper regulation and implementation of working time are essential for maintaining both mental and physical health. Today, the widespread use of digital tools—both within and beyond the workplace—leads to information overload and blurs the boundaries between work and personal life. This workshop explores the delicate balance between digitalization in the workplace and the need to uphold the framework of rules that ensure quality employment and safeguard labor relations. Katerina Kyrtsou of the Department of Economics at the University of Macedonia, Principal Investigator of the Research Project. In a research landscape where numerous Artificial Intelligence-based methods are widely applied in the Social Sciences, the research project “Pattern Recognition in Commodity Prices” proposes an innovative analysis of commodity prices, which have historically been significant drivers of inflationary phenomena. The methodology is based on a combination of machine learning and quantification of recurrence. The scientific objectives of the collaboration are multifaceted, aiming both at advancing academic research in the field that studies commodity price dynamics and at establishing a stable academic partnership between the two universities. Citizens’ Budget as a means of enhancing civic engagement and institutional transparency in public governance
18:30
19:00
The State Budget is the main instrument for implementing government policies, reflecting both revenues and their allocation. However, it is particularly difficult to assess the degree of compliance with national and European regulations, the level of social justice, and the culture of fiscal sustainability that should underpin it. The Citizens’ Budget facilitates the understanding of these aspects by bringing citizens into contact with public finances each year, as it offers a non-technical presentation of the approved budget. From Conflict to Moral Harassment: Recognizing the Signs in the Workplace
19:30
20:30
Conflicts and moral harassment in the workplace are phenomena that are becoming increasingly common in today’s work environment. While conflicts among employees are often expected due to differing goals, beliefs, and values, when such conflicts are repeated and accompanied by behaviors that lead to targeting, isolation, and violations of personal dignity, they may escalate into workplace harassment. The aim of this workshop is to provide employees with targeted information that empowers them to recognize and manage workplace conflicts and harassment. It focuses on raising awareness of the underlying causes and informing participants about available tools and resources they can use to protect themselves. LABOUR INSTITUTE OF GSEE

The RAAEY painting competition, in collaboration with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and the School of Fine Arts, is themed “Water is the source of all things” – “everything begins with water,” as Thales of Miletus (c. 624–540 B.C.) stated. The goal is to raise awareness among young people and highlight the vital importance of water, especially today, when water scarcity is a pressing issue both on the islands and in mainland Greece. The competition is open to three age categories: children up to 12, youth aged 13–18, and adults over 18. It will take place at Pavilion 10 of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), with free materials provided. Winners will receive a laptop, and the results will be announced on the RAAEY website.
